Earth or the Stars

In the vastness of our universe stands a planet ripe with distortion. Corrupted by the vanity of being. Trailing behind the idea of universality with the drive of self-serving vanity. While we search for another rock to inhabit, we are speeding towards destroying the rock we already have. Ripe as it is becoming, we are speeding up the process of its inevitable rot. It is as if once again we are attempting to beat God to the punch. To somehow outmaneuver God. How well did this work for the one that knew him well? We are burning out the candlelight, to live in the darkness, while searching for a void that we think we can fill.
Instead of taking care of the home we have we seek to find another while we destroy the one, we have. Is this just another search party to see what we can mine for wealth and abundance? To take what is given for free and monetize it and tax the powerless? Is it also that we fear the prophecies from old that we must take charge and remove ourselves from the equation?
It is natural to concern yourself with the days ahead. It is also counterproductive to the day that you have. The present manifest the morning as much as the night. To drive your car over a cliff to see if it does not explode is foolish. So, it is also to not take heed to the warning signs of the one vehicle that we all have. This life is a part of this planet. The heat or the cold would not be any good for anyone.
If we continue to politicize the need to change course before it is too late. Whell it will be too late. If we continue to allow monetary gain of natural existence, we will suffer the consequences of those choices.
There are no second earths that we can reach as of my writing this. We have not explored. We have not found connection or a way to move the inhabitants of an entire planet to another one. Even in the event we have fully vetted another planet that is inhabitable. The moving bill will be astronomical and if history serve any indication. There will be many that will be left out. You who set the fire have the extinguisher (The means) but many of us do not.
It begs the elusive question of if, and when, then what do we do and how do we do it? Do we take all the young? Do we continue to focus on race and leave behind the undesirables? Do we only take those who have proven how to make money and build economies? Do we only take our brightest scholars to continue tradition? Do we choose which religious group go and which ones do not? I am curious, what the true end game is with this search for a new home. Frankly, I prefer the one I have, that is designed for me to thrive in its natural offerings. We are a part of this eco system. This is our birth right. I know a scientist would argue this and I am all for science. Contrary to my words I think we should explore. What I am concerned with is not so much the need to explore as I am left uncomfortable with those who destroy.
