I implore you to read this to the end. This is about the endurance of a society that has a debt to human rights that it has yet to pay in earnest. A construct built on pain and suffering that refuse to admit to its subjects that the ideas it was founded on is flawed. An imperfection that will eat at the core of its foundation until it is reduced to a shell of its former self.
We are looking at an abandoned building aching for a renovation. The beams in the basement are built on injustice, subjugation, and favoritism. Those affected the most are not the obvious children of slaves but those who benefited from the structure of the slave holder. Think of it as a spoiled child who never had to learn to live a truly righteous life. A spoiled child that when reality hits it does not know how to cope.
What we do not realize is that atrophy has taken place in the moral muscle of this child. The child knows only how to lift the weight of life's challenges with a spot from a stronger athlete (The multitudes it forces to the bottom of the social construct) to support its ego. This child will hide behind erroneous laws; sheltered from ever having to be a better human in all aspects of civility and progress.
This man-child has never had to put their best foot forward to truly challenge his mettle. He will hide behind pseudo fear cooked up in an echo chamber seeking validation and comradery from others such as himself. He will mount a flag on his front porch, the back of his biker jacket, and fly them high on his lifted truck. He will subscribe to one line of thinking to find comfort until he feels safe to leave home to antagonize with the vomit from his hearty diet of identity crisis politics. He will buy the t-shirt that is tone-deaf to its core, he will wear a face mask with the same message. He will not cease. He can’t he has formed bonds with likeminded men and women that were raised the same ideas.
The problem with this all is that he is forced to remain stagnant. He can’t truly know how great he is because he relies heavily on the construct to support his privilege. He knows one thing and that is he could not survive without the system rigging the game for his win. He knows that he truly did not apply himself in his education. He knows that he relies on the cheat code to win the game. He does not know how to play it through and thoroughly. If he did, he would not mount that flag to harm but in true harmony for what America truly can be for all who call this country home. He would open his mind to the pain of his fellow human regardless of what language they speak or what color their skin is. He would hold accountable those who commit injustices on others to the full extent. He would not seek a narrative spin from the news to allow himself to look the other way. He would hold them accountable for kneeling on a neck and finally hug the man who was kneeling to prevent the event in the first place from happening. He would have been a better human being for it.
American way of life is on trial because. American life has been dictated by men such as the archetype I speak of in this piece. Men who deem African bodies of little value to the human experience. Men like this will point to the sickness and call it patriotism and then it storms the capitol. American way of life is hurting because a large group of White American Men and Woman are ok with selling their souls to purchase that house, the pickup truck will ill-gotten gains. American life is on trial and the world is watching. What was done in the dark of yesteryear will not work the same because the events are televised and uncensored. No matter how much Faux news spin reality: true eyes recognize true lies.
The only solution is in the apology and the supporting actions to level the playing field for all who come to play. Not for the sake of race but for the sake of character. For the best man, woman, child will advance based on who they are and not what they are. America will be able to compete with the reality of the global market if we allow America to force our citizens to work smarter, learn better and apply their minds to something more than making a race-based stand. This will free them up to accept the truth and stop living the lie that is causing out vulnerabilities as a nation. Racism is Americas Trojan horse and if we do not put that horse out the gate soon it will overtake us.
