Birth of Karenism!
As American Life has been placed in view in a full definition for the entire world to see. We have been inundated with images and videos of the so-called 'Karen’. A woman who fits the description of entitlement, fear, hatred, bigotry, and frustration wrapped up with a neat bow. However, the question remains who is she? Why does she exist? How is it that she can be in multiple places throughout our nation?
Karen is not a name it’s is a title of entitlement given to a social monster who attempts and often succeeds at imposing themselves on people. Most notably persons of color. She is the person who uses aggressive and passive-aggressive tactics to get her way in any and every situation she comes across. They are designed to call foul to get an and-one while trying to make an unauthorized basket in a game they were not involved in. They break the rules and have disdain for any rebuke that follows. They are angry at their own existence and look for easy targets to forces their will upon regardless of ethics. It has worked before and they are now just getting exposed.
The life of this person breaks all rules and regulations in the book of ethics. They rewrite the playbook as they progress through the social minefield. They have no regard for the life they are about to destroy as long as she can create an uncomfortable situation that will allow her to weave in and out of the world as she sees fit.
This type of person can be your employer, your employee, a neighbor, a woman at a grocery store. What she is now known as is a walking time bomb; filled with hatred, designed by historical misinformation and miseducation waiting to explode. They have weaponized the police, by pretending to be in danger from a POC (person of color). Why? Because they have an idea of the result.
However, my thought is why does it seem that it is more prevalent as of late? Not to discount it prevalence prior to seeing. Police brutality and other forms of hatred have become a daily diet in our periphery. It is a combination of our current political climate filled with dog whistles and rebel rousing. Let’s not forget the ability for any person moving about in their daily lives, can now create instant documentation and share online for the entire world to see.
Hatred and its ugly form of social interaction is now being recorded in real-time. It is no longer just the word(defense) of the social violator but that of its victim and their witnesses. No longer can the perpetrators of hatred hide in plain sight. They are being revealed to the entire world for who they are and how they operate. Even with a camera in their midst, their hatred is so strong they can’t stop themselves to save face. Why is it that they continue knowingly, that they are being recorded? It is because the system as it is designed (systemic racism) has always worked in their favor. There is a strong possibility they have gotten away with their ethically heinous crime in one form or another in the past. It is enough to say they see others break their natural social laws, that alone provided them the agency to proceed to cause harm. The system has shown itself to not come in the defense of brown bodies when they are harmed by the hands white Americans or by the ones who support the ethnic agenda handed to them by the American power structure(Policing, Judicial, prosecutorial).
How many cases do you think they have witnessed in the news that proves the point that systemic racism is alive and well? Also, these Karen's have witnessed that it protects the European perspective and agenda no matter the weight of her guilt? From the massacre of in Tulsa and Rosewood to Emmet Till, the central park 5, and now to present-day you continue to see criminal behavior going unpunished. The type of criminal behavior that breaks all moral laws. The law of the land should be designed after the law of God, but so far has proven otherwise. It should hold all accountable within the realm of its rule. However, this is not the case. It is quite a one-sided system that perpetuates the idea that it is blind but has proven repeatedly that it’s partial and subjective. It is watching within its eyes wide open and it picks who to hold accountable for their actions and to choose to ignore those it favors.
Political Rhetoric and the unmasking of American life. Why are they dropping the veil and pulling back the curtain on their hatred for POC? They have been given agency by our current political climate. With leadership that has done more to create civil unrest in recent times than any other. This leadership may have been sworn in but the vehicle that got the team in place has been brewing in the opinion-based mind washing of the White-Conservative population for some time now. Through social media platforms, private chat rooms, and conservative opinion outlets.
From the moment America cemented its first African American President the wheels of hatred began to turn. For the open-minded optimist it signaled the growth of a nation. For the Conservative white pessimist they feared either retaliation for centuries of chattel slavery, genocide, and systemic racism and racial hate.
Having a man of color in power; fear, anger, and pure a lust to maintain power based on how they saw themselves as a group. It became their three-course meal. Watching my own Father In-law consume Far-Right Opinion as if it were the holy grail, I began to see a shift in his otherwise loving nature. Any deep-seated bigotry dormant within him came bubbling to the surface. I watched him compromise his Christian principals to suit the new narrative. It became frightening to sit down and have dinner with him. Our family being diverse as it is, it became polarizing at Christmas dinner. Everything became about politics and conservative beliefs that slowly began to morph into outright bigoted rhetoric and perspective. To the point none of the family show up for dinner. It is no longer a home but a house for a very disengaging and unrealistic expectation that love will prevail. In a sense, my father-in-law became the poster child for the current norm on the far right. You would not think this by seeing us active together on a normal day. I must note he has yet to come to terms with it. He hides it behind our faith and what the church wants (i.e. Anti-Abortion laws). However, when he is done with that, he watches right wing opinion news until he dozes off for the evening into an auto suggestion dreamscape filled with Unbalanced opinion and misinformation.
It allows one to always have a scape goat. A social punching bag that allows someone to take the blame no matter how innocent they are.
With the internet there comes the freedom to congregate and spread messages of love and or hatred. The internet in all its glory is a place to exchange ideas and to create new forms of avenues to communicated effectively for humanity to thrive. Hidden in this positive; is a massive negative that has re-spawned the strength of hate. It has taken what happens in pockets and made the entire garment of our nation reveal just how many pockets create its style of life, liberty, and the pursuits of happiness. These pockets are now a full-blown garment bag carrying the mistruth and the ugly facts of our nation's history. They halted and tarnished the American progress that our nation prides itself on in a modern sense.
However, the system that allows atrocious acts against humanity to persist. Is the same system that gave the green light to Karen and the same system that gave my father in law a reason to fear change? It is a system that is hell-bent on maintaining control. This control is based on having people at the bottom whether it is to be through economics and a mixture of false race identity labeling, and opportunities in education. The system is in place for someone to win and for someone to lose in dynamic scenarios that may include a mixture of race and economics. Make no mistake economics is just not physical currency it is also the perception of superiority that allows one to move above social laws. It allows one to always have a scape goat. A social punching bag that allows someone to take the blame no matter how innocent they are.
How so? It is because of one underlying fact that we overlook. The system is what it is by the people placed in charge to design and manage it. From our laws, how to run the cities, states, as well as the nation. It is the people that are the problem, it is the people that create the system as it is, and it is the people who are willing to look the other way as long it does not impose on their creature comforts and agendas. Until we can get to the root of why the superiority myth exists, we will continue to revisit the moments of Karenism and other forms of racial human interactions that take place because of the opposite appearance in complexion.
Until we call on the Catholic leadership to take responsibility to admit their involvement in the way of life that followed the Dum Diversas and all subsequent Papal Bulls that authorized the trade of slaves, conversion, taking over of land, and or genocide that followed. We will continue to face this ugly situation. If the Church gave the green light, it should also be responsible for fixing the traffic signal that has caused a disastrous crash at the intersection of humanity that occurs on a repeat of the same old song. We are locked in the matrix of the churches doing and I believe only they can undo it and this half heart very distant apology by Pope John Paul II is not repentant at all. It is skimming the surface without taking full responsibility for the current state of humanity and its Karens and everyone like her.

Karen is a reincarnation of an old trope that will persist unless those who seek true peace hold those who have the power accountable. From the Diary of John Adams who himself held slaves, understood the dangers when we allow power to Rome free. No pun intended. When he wrote in his diary that “There is Danger from all Men. The only Maxim of a free Government, ought to be to trust no Man living, with Power to endanger the public Liberty.” We have allowed this before John Adams himself was conceived. With the Papal Bulls that were in place that allowed the pope at the time to make the mark in the social construct of the world; he is that power from one man that was left unchecked.
There was no one to defy his order. In allowing the earth to become fair game. It left the western world at the mercy of explorers and colonizers. It maintained no clause that would allow for it to dissolve on its own and for it to not abuse it power. It itself was an abuse of power. The power to get on a boat and subject any and everyone it has come across to tyranny. The world was colonized and destroy to the benefit of Europe and its decedents.
What you get in the end are woman who depend on that system to remain as it is. It has stripped them over their individuality and have tied them to a legacy they can't breathe without. To quote Morpheus from the matrix; “The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you’re inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You must understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inert, so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to protect it.” Hence, you get the karen’s of the world.
